Community and Student Support

The Department of Community and Student Support is dedicated to providing support to students, parents, and the faculty of the Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) via the expertise of staff and through partnerships with community agencies. Community and Student Support incorporates a variety of specialists that include school psychologists, school social workers, school counselors, the Dual Enrollment Specialist, school-based mental health therapists, graduation specialists, career center coordinators, school nurses and clinic assistants, and the liaison for homeless children and youth.

Lead School Psychologist: Kassandra Dixon

In addition, the Department of Community and Student Support coordinates Section 504, Dual Enrollment, the homeless education program, social and emotional learning, Parent Academy, attendance, crisis response, suicide education, and the Response to Intervention process which provides students with more academic and behavioral support by way of the regular education setting. 

The Department of Community and Student Support has 5 goals:

  • Prevent Academic and Behavior Issues in Our School and Community
  • Promote Healthy Lifestyles
  • Protect Our Students from Harm
  • Provide Mental Health Services and Education
  • Prepare Them for Real-Life Experiences and Postsecondary Opportunities through Advisement, Relationships and Education


In September 2014, the Department of Community and Student Support received a grant to address the mental health needs of youth; certified Youth Mental Health First Aid trainers are available to provide training to school staff and the community.
