Principal's Intro

Dear J.H. House Families and Students,
It is with great excitement and heartfelt pride that I welcome you to the 2026–2027 school year at J.H. House Elementary School. Whether you are returning to our halls or joining us for the first time, you are part of a community that believes deeply in the potential of every child, the strength of every family, and the joy of learning together.
This year, our schoolwide theme is “The Power of…Yet!” Three small letters — y‑e‑t — will guide our mindset, our conversations, and our growth. When students say, “I can’t do this,” we will help them add one powerful word: yet. When challenges feel big, we will remind them that learning is a journey, and every step forward matters. “Yet” turns obstacles into opportunities, mistakes into lessons, and effort into confidence. It is a mindset that builds resilience, curiosity, and a belief in one’s own ability to grow.
Throughout the year, you will see this theme woven into classroom instruction, school events, celebrations, and the ways we encourage students to take risks, persevere, and discover what they are capable of. Our teachers and staff are committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to reach new heights.
Families, we value your partnership more than ever! Your involvement — whether through communication with teachers, attending school events, reading at home, or simply encouraging your child each day — strengthens the foundation of our school community. Together, we can help our students embrace challenges, celebrate progress, and believe in the power of “yet.”
Students, get ready for a year filled with learning, friendships, creativity, and growth. We cannot wait to see the goals you set, the questions you ask, the discoveries you make, and the confidence you build. You are capable of amazing things, and this year, we will cheer you on and support you every step of the way.
Thank you for being part of the J.H. House family. Let’s make the 2026–2027 school year one of purpose, joy, and powerful growth — one “yet” at a time.
With enthusiasm and appreciation,
Dr. Kenny Vaughn
